A woman who had recently purchased a new house discovered the pair trapped on the property. The house had been abandoned for about a month, leaving Blackie and Reiki to endure unimaginable neglect and isolation.

Reiki, the more alert of the two, was visibly shocked to see a human again, even though I was a stranger to her. Her brother, Blackie, was in a far worse state.

Emaciated to the point where his bones protruded through his skin, he had been tied to a tree, restricting his movements and leaving him vulnerable to injury. Despite his desperate situation, Blackie’s spirit hadn’t broken, and his cries for help were a poignant plea for kindness and care.
