A street dog named Lawson lived on the outskirts of Istanbul, struggling for survival after being hit by a car, which left his back legs paralyzed. As a one-year-old pup, he had to drag himself around to find food, worsening the injuries to his legs.

Fortunately, Lawson’s fate took a remarkable turn when He’art of Rescue came across his story. This compassionate organization—renowned for its unwavering commitment to saving the most vulnerable, forgotten, and often invisible stray animals in Turkey—recognized something extraordinary in him.
Beneath his frail body and weary eyes was a courageous spirit refusing to surrender. They knew they couldn’t simply walk away. Instead, they stepped in with open hearts and determined hands, ready to give Lawson not just the medical care he so desperately needed, but also the love, dignity, and second chance at life that every animal deserves.

Lawson bore the scars of his struggles, with scabs and sores on his legs from moving across the ground. Even though his spine could not be healed, the team equipped him with a giving him the chance to learn how to walk again.

In his new wheelchair, Lawson’s life took a turn for the better. The cheerfulness in his eyes and his smiles were signs that he felt safe and cared for. Just a few days after his rescue, he began taking his first steps with his new wheels.

Before long, Lawson had grown remarkably skilled at maneuvering his wheelchair, gliding across the ground with newfound confidence and speed. What had once seemed like an obstacle quickly became just another part of his adventurous spirit. He could be seen darting from one corner of the yard to another, chasing after toys, and joining in lively games with the other dogs. In his new environment, every turn of the wheel brought him closer to the life he deserved—one filled with freedom, companionship, and the pure joy of simply being able to play.
